Near Urbino, Marche, Italy

Gorgeous traditional rustic farmhouse, with five apartments sleeping between two and five guests, with swimming pool (12x5m)

This is a large and beautiful holiday farmhouse wonderfully perched among the wooded valleys close to the ancient village of Pieve di Cagna and only ten miles from the famous university town and important cultural centre of Urbino.

For guests looking to immerse themselves in the tranquility of unspoilt Italian countryside, far away from the noise of traffic and the pollution of the towns, Casa Bernocco is the perfect location.

Mountain biking, walking and trekking and horse riding are all available at the property, providing ideal ways of enjoying the scenery and the wildlife in the area (roe deer, porcupines, red squirrels, wild boar, owls and falcons to name but a few).

And as the property has its own swimming pool and small but excellent and exclusive restaurant, guests regularly prefer to fritter away the days without so much as setting foot in the car during their stay.

The cosy little restaurant is found in the main building along with a tiny but well stocked bar, both affording breathtaking views over the wooded valleys that surround this enchanting and spellbinding hideaway.

Walking around the property there are innumerable artefacts and treasures to uncover, from the old carts once used to bring in the harvest to the adjacent fields which provide pasture for the horses which will take you trekking should you desire.

Casa Bernocco is found in the north of Marche just 10 miles from Urbino, home to an ancient university and a rich history which includes a number of renowned Italian artists. Even today the town is a Mecca for painters and many of the region's local artists are drawn to the town to live and work.

Some of the town's varied and wonderful architecture may at least in part explain the attraction. Indeed the town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, confirming its international importance as a cultural and historical beacon.

Architectural gems include the Palazzo Ducale, the most important and original building of its kind in Italy, and the object of numerous copies across the peninsula.

Even closer to Casa Bernocco is Pieve di Cagna, a small but interesting village with a thousand years of recorded history.

And less than an hour to the north is autonomous state of San Marino, while Umbria, Tuscany and Emilia Romagna are all day trip possibilities.
