Near Amandola, Marche, Italy

Three spacious apartments in two stone buildings, sleeping 6, 5 and 3 guests respectively, with swimming pool

This nicely restored stone farmhouse, comprising two separate buildings, is surrounded by awesome views of Marche and the Sibillini Mountains in the heart of the Apennines, not far from the Umbria-Marche border.

Each apartment is completely independent and all have access to a well kept private garden and swimming pool. The garden enjoys lovely views, is planted with fruit trees and makes the perfect place to relax between dips in the pool.

The house is about a mile off the main road leading to the thriving towns of Amandola and Sarnano.

Amandola is a town of 4,000 inhabitants and has a beautifully porticoed main square where you can sit outside one of the bars and enjoy an aperitivo before walking up to the town's highest point to take in the stunning views of the Monte Sibillini mountains.

The Monti Sibillini National Park boasts some of the highest mountains in the Apennines, with Monte Vettore the highest in the park at 2,476m (8,124 ft) and many others including Sibilla and Priora (both well over 2,000m) which dominate the skyline for miles around.

The national park offers various excursions with experienced guides in some of the most beautiful yet least known areas in the whole of Italy - from the huge expanse of the Piano Grande, a vast natural plain surrounded by mountain peaks which in the summer months is carpeted with an amazing assortment of flowers reminiscent of a rainbow, to the high mountain lake Lago di Pilato, where according to legend Pilate's body was dumped.

Wildlife abounds, with a stable wolf population, deer, plenty of wild boar (often on the menu!), porcupines, hares, eagles, falcons and hawks all present in the park.

Photography and nature courses run by an eminent local guide and professional photographer are also available.

- Apartment Ginepro is in a separate building and is very spacious for two people. It has a well equipped kitchen and living room and stairs lead to a delightful double room with bathroom and shower and an extra sofa bed.

- Apartment Quercia has a kitchen/dining room with breakfast bar and outside a pergola adorned with wisteria. Upstairs is a double room, with good views from the window, and a shower room. On the second floor a large attic with three beds is ideal for children. Another bed is also available on the first floor landing.
